Knox Community Volunteers Inc., Pet Companion Program

The Pet Companion Program is funded by the Department of Human Services and aims to provide support to frail older people and people with a disability who require assistance in caring with their pets.

Many people in our community experience difficulty managing their pets without some outside help. The Pet Companion Program aims to offer support to these people and acknowledge the importance of companion animals in the home.

Carefully selected volunteers visit pet owners in their own home and provide assistance with dog walking, pet bathing and grooming and transporting clients and their pets to their veterinary visits. Clients using the service are responsible for paying their veterinary fees as well as the costs associated with dog washing and grooming facilities. The Pet Companion Program is provided free of charge.

This service operates in Victoria, in Knox and Maroondah as well as some parts of the Yarra Ranges and Whitehorse.
